Just thought of posting some pictures from my visit to Berlin last week.
I am lost.
In the last days, 4 friends asked me for the best and exclusive Berlin tips – all planning to spend some good time in the city during springtime, and all looking for a real blast in the best, most hyped and coolest bars, clubs, restaurants, hangouts, hotels, you name it… I’d better not disappoint them. Otherwise i’ll be the first one to lose my “Berliner” status.
So now you can help me: give me some of your best advices and i’ll make a “best of Berlin 2012” out of it. I’ll only add places where i’ve been myself. How to do it? Just post comments to this post with some of your favs – regardless the style, price, if it’s for bobos or hipsters, rich or poor, smart or dumb. I just want to get the best of Berlin right now 2012 – made by the berlin kollektiv readers.

To go out: obviously, Torstrasse is getting full attention during the night, even though this street is not so attractive during the day.

Was ist denn aus meinem beliebten Kollektiv Jazzanova geworden? Was hat nun Universal da getan? Was ist das für eine völlig gefühlslose voll mit zielgruppenlosen Werbemitteln geladenen Webseite, die da gebaut wurde?? Ich bin so enttäuscht. Riecht nach Major und Geld. Schade. Höre mir lieber die alten Sachen an. Hoffentlich kommt Jazzanova zu seinen Roots zurück. Tschüss Universal.

triple good news! 1- i am going to Berlin in March to visit the ITB and some business event, 2- i am staying in Berlin over the week end, and 3- it’s the Manga Party the same week end!
So what’s the Manga Party? It’s a bunch of guys who want to have fun and organize, since many many years back, a party – a manga party, yes. The head is Bart van Kersavond, and the rest of the crew are, as Bart, ex-collegues at I-D Media. Anyhow, now that i booked my flight, you know that i will be there (first time since 2002!), so make sure to come as well!

Den Klassikerstatus des eigenen Warenkatalogs live zu reproduzieren, oder zumindest dies zu versuchen, schien sich gerade zum Trend zu entwickeln: Lou Reed tourte mit einer Eins-zu-eins-Umsetzung seines »Berlin«-Albums, und Sonic Youth spielten Ende Juni in Berlin ihr kultisch verehrtes 88er-Album »Daydream Nation«. Parallel erschien das Album in einer Deluxe-Edition, als historisch-kritische Werkausgabe sozusagen. Dass sie irgendwann einmal eine ihrer LPs nachspielen würden, von Anfang bis Ende durch, etwas Derartiges hätten sich Sonic Youth wohl nicht träumen lassen, als sie sich 1981 in New York – der Stadt, die damals dank No Wave gerade mal wieder zum Schauplatz einer Musikrevolution geworden war – gründeten. Wahrscheinlich hätten sie die Vorstellung sogar langweilig gefunden. Aber die Zeit vergeht nun mal. Nach dem Soundcheck in der Columbiahalle, während Kim Gordon sich noch erklären lässt, wie sie am schnellsten nach Mitte zum Fred-Perry-Shop findet, nimmt Gitarrist Lee Ranaldo, 51, hinter der Bühne Platz auf einem Ledersofa. Zum Thema des Abends passend, besteht das »Vorspiel« für ihn aus Klassikern des Blues, Rock und Pop.
