Just thought of posting some pictures from my visit to Berlin last week.
I am sure if i should consider this as a serious news: http://m.pitchfork.com/news/46058-kevin-shields-teases-new-my-bloody-valentine-lp/ . It’s not the first time in the last 21 years that this news pops up. But who knows. Maybe this long break was necessary after such a breathtaking album as Loveless. Wishing Kevin and co. good luck, and hoping for the best.
If there’s one business man within the music industry i’d like to express my respect for, it’s N*E*R*D ‘s Pharrell Williams. You can read about one day of his life in the latest issue of WSJ Magazine (yes, i do read this…). Pharrell is not only a genious as a music producer, he also has sense for time management and endurance, when i look at his agenda. 4 songs completed from scratch in 70 minutes, 11 hours straight spent recording. Well, keep on doing the good work, this goes right to my ears and my heart.
Habe dieses Interview von Kim Gordon zur Austellung in Düsseldorf irgendwie versehen. Hier ist es also:
Got this today from BEGN direct into my inbox:
We’re happy to release the first exclusive MP3 from Sonic Youth’s Buy Early Get Now. This track is from the Battery Park live LP that comes with Buy Early Get Now. It’s a ripper and a shredder and is available below in 320k mp3 or lossless FLAC format. Thanks to River and River for recording it. Enjoy!
Great job, great marketing, great people behind, great music, great band, just great.
The museum exhibition SONIC YOUTH ETC. : SENSATIONAL FIX focuses on the multidisciplinary activities of Sonic Youth since the band’s formation in 1981. It features the band’s collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, designers and musicians, as well as a choice of other works selected by the band. Through the multidisciplinary output of Sonic Youth and related works by other artists in the exhibition, an alternative history of contemporary culture is being uncovered in which the division between ‘high art’ and ‘low art’ is being called into question, while issues are explored such as teenage rebellion, adolescent wanderlust, gender, fame, fashion, sexuality, and religion. The exhibition is initiated and curated by freelance curator Roland Groenenboom in collaboration with the band and will be presented in Bolzano, Italy (from 10 October 2008 to 4 January 2009), and Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Germany (31 January to 26 April 2009). Next up are The Museum of Malmö, Sweden (from May 29 to September 20 2009) and Centro Huarte de Arte Contemporaneo, Navarra/Nafarroa, Spain (October 2009 to January 2010). Further venues are currently in discussion, in Europe, the US and Asia. A complete description of the show can be found here.
Hey, some label really know how to treat their fans, Matador for example. I just joined the “Buy Early Get Now” offer that includes the stream of the album, extras like downloads, pre-sales for concert tickets etc. and i am waiting peacefully for the mailman to ring and give me The Eternal and an LP live in NYC last summer.
I love the concept, not because it’s a concept, but because it really shows that (some) labels care about their audience in the name of the artist. For those who are interested, here the magic formula for the music industry:
Thanks Matador, Thanks SY, now let’s stream, download and listen legally.
Was ist denn aus meinem beliebten Kollektiv Jazzanova geworden? Was hat nun Universal da getan?
