SvD is telling another funny story about anoth monopoly in Sweden. This time, SF (swedish monopoly of course) has blocked the website Biotider.se from screenscraping information on their site.
This is a shame, as Systembolaget (this one is even worse) and as all other monopolies in that country.

What do you men by „SF (swedish monopoly of course)“? As if there are no monopoly like situations in other countries? The fact that SF Bio behave like idiots certainly has no relation to the fact that they are owned by a Swedish media group. And as such it is _not_ owned by the state as you seem to imply.
And as far as Systembolaget goes it is by far the best shop for alcohol that I have seen (and I have travelled a lot). The fact that it is expensive is only because of the high tax. When it comes to range of wines and spirits no other chain of stores can compare.
It doesn’t say on yor blogg but I’m guessing you are a Swedish expat, happy to be out of reach from the evil social democratic pit from hell. Well good riddance!
Kommentar von Björn Februar 7, 2008 @ 8:03What i mean is that what happened with SF Bio and Biotider is caused by the fact that SF Bio is in a monopolistic situation since Sandrew Metronome was bankrupt. Because of that, they can act the way they want. They wouldn’t have done it if SM was still in the race. Getting (free and qualified) traffic from a website as Biotiden is not enough, they want the total control of their visitors. That’s what i call abusing of a monopolistic situation. When i write SF is evil, it’s a reference to the „don’t be evil“ from Google.
Unfortunately, i have been working 3 years within wine import (vinimportör) here in Sweden, and i have been in contact with Systembolagets inköpsavdelning on a daily basis, and with many many many producers around the world. So i know what i am talking about. And i have listened to what all these amazing wine producers are saying about the swedish monopoly. I can promise you that Systembolaget is by far one of the most subjective and unrepresentative wine store in the world. Yes, the product range is impressive, but you don’t want to know how the selection is made, you would be horrified by your fellow country men! And i guess you would definitely prefer a small wine shop in France, Italy, Spain or Germany, with a nice owner and a nice spirit, and maybe even higher prices than in Sweden.
